Dal Makhani
Whole split black grams and kidney beans cooked with onion and tomatoes with seasonings and topped up with cream or milk.
Measurement: 1 cup = 180 ml

Ingredients
- Whole urad dal – 1/4 cup
- Rajma – 3 tsp
- Onion (chopped) – 1 medium
- Tomato (chopped) -1 medium
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Green chilly (chopped) – 1
- Corriander (chopped) – for garnishing
- Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Garam masala – 3/4 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp
- Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp
- Fresh cream – 1 1/2 tbsp or Milk – 1/4 cup
- Pure ghee – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Procedure
- Soak whole urad dal and rajma overnight, pressure cook till dal is overcooked.
- Whisk till dal is almost mashed.
- Heat pure ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds.
- Add onion, saute till golden brown.
- Add green chilly, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala and tomato.
- Once tomatoes are done, add dal and salt.
- Add water, stir well and simmer for 8 to 10 min.
- Add fresh cream and stir well.
- Garnish with coriander.
- Serve with rice or parathas.
Tips
- You may add more ghee.
