Dal Fry
Measurement: 1 Cup = 180 ml
Serves: 3
Ingredients
- Chanda dal – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Toor dal – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Moong dal- 1 1/2 tbsp
- Onion (chopped) – 1 small
- Tomato (chopped) – 1 small
- Garlic (crushed) – 6 cloves
- Ginger (grated) – 1/4 tsp
- Green chilly (chopped) – 1 or as per your requirement
- Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Garam masala (Everest) – 1/2 tsp
- Kasuri methi – 1/2 tsp
- Ghee – 1 tbsp or as per your requirement
- Salt – 3/4 tsp approx.
Procedure
- Wash and soak chana dal for 30 min.
- Wash toor dal and moong dal.
- Pressure cook all 3 dals with sufficient water, till 5 whistles or till well cooked.
- Melt ghee in a thick bottomed pan.
- Add cumin seeds and onion, stir fry for a min.
- Add ginger, garlic and green chilly. Stir fry till onion turns golden brown.
- Add tomato and stir fry for a min.
- Add garam masala and stir fry for a few seconds.
- Add turmeric powder and cooked dals.
- Add salt and stir well.
- Add water if necessary.
- Let it come to boil, simmer it for 2-3 min.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
