Tomato Onion Salad Bhaji
Tomato onion salad bhaji is a simple curry made from onion, tomatoes and some seasonings often served with pav.
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
- Onion (sliced) – 4 to 5 medium
- Tomato (chopped) – 2 big
- Mustard seeds – a pinch (optional)
- Green chilies (chopped) – 2
- Garlic (crushed) – 3 – 4 cloves
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Kashmiri mirchi powder – 1/4 tsp
- Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Cloves – 2 – 3
- Cinnamon powder – a pinch
- Tomato ketchup – 1 to 1 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Oil – 1.5 to 2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves – for garnishing
- Sugar – 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
Procedure:
- Heat oil in a pan and mustard seeds.
- Add onion, fry till it turns slightly golden brown.
- Add ingredients numbering 4 to 8, stir fry for 10 second.
- Add tomato, stir fry till tomato softens.
- Add water (1.5 cup approx.) ketchup, sugar and salt.
- Cook for 5 min.
- Coarsely crush cumin seeds and cloves with the help of pestle.
- Add crushed cumin seeds, cloves and cinnamon powder.
- Stir well and simmer for a min.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with pav/chapati.
