Green Coconut Chutney
Green coconut chutney is an accompaniment to the South Indian snacks.
Measurement: 1 Cup = 180 ml
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
- Scrapped coconut – 1 cup
- Roasted chana dal – 1 tsp
- Green chillies – 1-2
- Coriander leaves – 2 to 3 tbsp
- Garlic cloves – 5 to 8
- Ginger – 2 slices
- Cumin seeds – a pinch
- Tamarind – marble size ball
- Sugar – a pinch
- Water – 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
For the tempering:
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Red chilly (broken) – 1
- Coconut oil – 1 tsp
- Grind all the ingredients with water.
- Give it a tempering of mustard seeds and red chilly in coconut oil.
- Serve with idli/dosa/uttapam/wada/appe.
- You may avoid garlic.
- You may add roasted peanuts too while grinding.
