Ingredients
Masoor – 1cup Onion (sliced) – 2 medium size Tomato (chopped) – 1 medium size Corriander leaves (chopped) – 1.5 tsp Crushed garlic – 5-7 cloves Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds – a pinch Hing- a pinch Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp Chilly powder – 1/2 tsp Tamarind pulp – 1 tsp Kolhapuri masala/ kanda lasun masala/ garam masala – 1 tsp Oil – 1.5 tbsp Salt to taste
Procedure
Wash and soak masoor for at least 2 hours. Cook masoor and keep it aside. Heat oil in a cooking pan or wok. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add hing, garlic and onion. Stir fry onion till it turns golden brown. Add turmeric powder and tomato. Stir fry til tomato gets cooked. Add masala and chilly powder, stir fry for a few seconds. Add cooked masoor, tamarind pulp and salt to taste. Mix well, add approx. 1/2 cup water. Simmer for 2-3 mins. Garnish with corriander leaves. Serve hot with chapati or bhakari
