Paneer Pulav is a simple and easy to make rice dish. No garam masala is used in its preparation. It can be served for lunch or dinner or packed in the lunch box. It can be accompanied by raita, pickle, papad or any curry.
Measurement: 1 Cup = 180 ml
Serves: 3 to 5
Ingredients:
- Basmati rice – 1 1/2 cup
- Onion (julienned) – 3 medium
- Ripe tomatoes (chopped) – 2 medium
- Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Paneer cubes (shallow fried) – 250 gm
- Coriander leaves (chopped) – for garnishing
- Sugar – a pinch
- Salt to taste
Procedure:
- Wash rice and soak for 20 min.
- Boil water in a thick bottomed pan and add rice. Cook.
- When rice is done drain excess of water. Let it cool.
- Heat oil in a wok and add onions, fry till golden brown.
- Add turmeric powder and tomatoes, stir fry till tomatoes turn mushy.
- Add chilly powder, garlic paste, paneer, sugar and salt.
- Mix well and add rice, stir fry for 5 min.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot accompanied by raita and pickle.
Tip:
- Leftover rice can be used.
- If you want to avoid onion, then use cabbage.
- You may use whole garam masala before frying onion, to suit your taste.
