Udupi Coconut Chutney
Udupi coconut chutney is an accompaniment to the South Indian snacks.
Measurement: 1Cup =180 ml
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
- Coconut (scrapped) – 1 cup
- Roasted chana dal – 1 tsp
- Roasted and peeled peanuts – 1 to 2 tsp
- Green chillies – 1 to 2
- Coriander leaves – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – 5
- Garlic cloves – 4 to 5 (optional)
- Ginger – 2 slices
- Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Tamarind – half a marble size ball
- Sugar – a pinch
- Water – 1/2 cup
- Coconut oil – 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
For the tempering:
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Red chilly (broken) – 1
- Coconut oil – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – 5 to 6
