Kann is a Goan sweet dish prepared for fast (upvaas). It is a thin kheer prepared by roasting moong dal. There are two variants: 1. With coconut milk and jaggery flavoured with turmeric leaves or cardamom. 2. With milk and sugar flavoured with cardamom. Cashew nuts and a pinch of salt may be added.
Measurement: 1 Cup = 180 ml

Ingredients:
- Moong dal – 1/2 cup
- Sugar – 1/2 cup
- Boiled milk – 350 to 500 ml (depending upon the consistency desired)
- Cardamom (powdered) – 2
- Cashew nuts – as per your requirement (optional)
Procedure:
- Dry roast moong dal on low flame till it turns slightly brown and gives out roasted aroma.
- Wash it after roasting and pressure cook on low to medium flame till 6 to 8 whistles.
- Add sugar, milk and cashew nuts.
- Simmer for 5 to7 min. Stir occasionally.
- Put off the flame and add cardamom powder.
- Serve warm or chilled.
