Kanda Bhaji (Onion Pakora)
Kanda bhaji is an easy to make snack. It can be served for evening snacks, as a an appetizer or even as a side dish to the meal. As a famous street food, it is served with pav.
Measurement: 1 Cup = 180 ml
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
- Onion (sliced) – 4 medium
- Besan – 1 cup approx
- Green chillies (chopped) – as per your requirement
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – a dash
- Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
- Corriander leaves (chopped) – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Oil – for deep frying
- Salt to taste
- Take a mixing bowl and combine onion, green chillies and salt. Rest it at least for half an hr.
- Dissolve baking soda in a tsp of water.
- Combine all the ingredients without water, you need to mix it with the moisture given out by onion.
- Check the taste for salt.
- Heat oil in a kadai and add 2 tsp of hot oil to the batter and mix well.
- Drop a spoonful of batter and fry few at a time on medium flame.
- Turn them occasionally with a slotted spoon.
- Repeat for remaining batter.
- Serve hot accompanied by a cup of tea.
- You may serve it with chutney or ketchup to suit your taste.
- If you want soft bhaji, then add water and more besan.
